Christmastime

School is out, thank the lord! AND Friday was a snow day so we got out a day early!

After a 14+ hour car ride, we finally arrived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming last night. My mom's side of the family is here in almost all entirety and we are already climbing all over each other haha. But, that's part of all the fun! Today we accomplished the task of renting skis, eating a cozy lunch, and discovering that most of the shops in town are closed on Sundays, whoops! But sitting here by the fire, wrapped up in a blanket, with a cup of tea and the snow falling outside (and Pinterest of course) is like heaven.

Tomorrow will be ski day, which to be honest, I'm pretty nervous about haha but I'm sure it will be okay. Then it'll be baking. I'm finally going to be able to try Pinterest's  hacks of Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bars and Pumpkin Scones, yum! I hope they work - crossing my fingers.

And then, it's Christmas Eve!! I absolutely LOVE Christmas, I'm so excited :)

Now, in a perfect world, I'd look like this on Christmas morning:

Or this:

Hey, a girl can dream right? No matter the looks, Christmas morning is my favorite, and it's going to be even more magical here, with the fire and snow and millions of people. I can picture it now: everyone in pjs and glasses with coffee and cocoa, a pumpkin scone, and a sea of wrapping paper and tissue perfectly camouflaging the handmade rug. Perfection.

2 for 1

Again, it's no excuse, but life has been CRAZY! Especially since it's the holiday season! AKA my favorite season :). Thanksgiving was fabulous and I am still enjoying some delicious leftover sandwiches (mmmmm). Though Christmas is by far my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving food is my absolute favorite, especially stuffing and pumpkin pie - and the forbidden canned cranberries!

The day after Thanksgiving I was ready for Christmas. I pulled out my little pink tree, went Christmas shopping, and started recording my favorite holiday movies (Eloise at Christmastime, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Elf, and of course The Holiday). I'm so ready for Christmas.

And, as always, I love playing dress up. So here are some of my recent OOTDs:

For one of my friends birthday dinners I wore a J.Crew chambray shirt, a Banana Republic necklace, American Eagle skinny jeans, my new fave Kate Spade ring, and ALDO heels (my homecoming shoes).

(Pic quality sucks on this one, my bad)

And just cause sometimes I like to be fancy at school: vintage Marc Jacobs cardigan, Nordstrom Rack cami and maxi skirt, and my grandpas old key chain as a necklace (and my Gap booties are hidden under the skirt!)

I'll be sure to post more often, especially when school gets out, and share my holiday favorites (I have many).

homecoming

Homecoming was a blast! Spirit week was super fun (this was the first year I really participated, mostly because my best friend is on class office!), and I got to help set up for the dance after the game - which we won (surprise, surprise).

We kicked off the week with "Deck the Halls". I helped decorate our class's designated hallway, outfitting it for our circus theme. We had to get creative with the supplies we had, and though we didn't win, I thought we did pretty good:

Friday was the Homecoming game versus Mt. Si, and my beautiful bff Madison was a Homecoming Princess! (She had to bend down and I had to stand on my tiptoes cause she's 10 inches taller than me and was wearing 5 inch heels.)

And Saturday was the day we'd all been waiting and preparing for, for the past month. Unfortunately, I was helping set up at the school until 11:30 and had to wake up at 6:30 to help out at my brother's football game. Needless to say, I drank two Starbucks and two 16oz Red Bulls that day.

After my brother's freezing cold game, the prep began. Showering, eyebrow plucking, facial exfoliating, lotioning, etc. At 1:30 I curled Ms. Madi's hair and then finished up my own prep.

I took some inspiration from the ever so lovely (and newly engaged!) Ms. Lauren Conrad. Did some loose curls and a subtle smokey eye, to pair with my deep purple J.Crew dress and major rhinestone necklace.

And this was the result!

Me and my boyfriend Justin. He's a senior so this was his last homecoming! (Maybe I can sneak him into mine next year ;) We had such a great time, and he made it so special :)

OOTD: Fashion Risks

Though many bloggers and fashion connoisseurs may not call a fur (faux) vest a "fashion risk" for a girl in high school who is surrounded by judgements, it's generally acknowledged as a risk. So I took it. This year is all about showing my personality and love of fashion and sophistication through my clothes. My mom bought me this vest almost two years ago and I've been so scared to wear it, but I decided that I don't care what other people think, if I like the way it looks, than I'm gunna wear it.

I paired my {Old Navy} vest with a {C&C} striped tee, {Lululemon} groove leggings, and my {Bandolino} boots - which I wear with literally EVERYTHING.

Getting through homecoming week! I'll do a post on my outfit and preparation process soon!

AHS: Coven

Okay, let me just tell you I LOVE horror movies. And horror tv shows. AKA - I LOVE American Horror Story.

I watched the first season on Netflix and immediately became obsessed. I watched the whole season in like 4 days. I have a sickness. But, unfortunately, I found out that the second season had already been running and I couldn't find episodes ANYWHERE. Air go - sad me. BUT I also found out that each season is basically a different story so I didn't need to watch the second season before the third!

American Horror Story: Coven (season 3) premiered last night and it's now set to my DVR. I just watched it. 3 words. Oh. My. God. Crazy. But. Amazing. Insane. But. Breathtaking. The perfect amounts of freaky and weird, while still being entertaining.

So obviously, I suggest that you all watch it. Right now. Go. Watch it.

Back to the Grind...

Yes, it's that time of year again. I've jumped in head first, to a pile of school work, SAT Prep, tutoring, and babysitting. Luckily, I've gotten one roadblock out of the way: the dreaded SAT. I took it last weekend and I really hope that the months of work have paid off!

And do to this terrible nose to the grindstone, I have been M. I. A., which I always hate. So here's just a quick little update, and I hope to do more of these even though life is crazy right now!

I didn't get the greatest picture, but I snapped a quick OOTD pic with my phone the other day...

My "Hello Gorgeous" shirt basically sums my style up in one piece. Sparkles. Stripes. And a positive message, that will hopefully brighten peoples day! {Old Navy}
I paired it with bootcut Hudsons and some Oxford style booties (stolen from my mom), and a new middle part (not pictured) that I'm trying to decide if I like...

I'll try to continue to update as much as possible!!

Sparkles

I don't care what anyone says, I LOVE SPARKLES. Any excuse to wear sequins, is a good excuse. Now, there are actually very few excuses for one to wear sequins, but one of them being homecoming, hence my beige silk, gold and silver sequined bodice, alice + olivia dress (scored at the rack! my fave.), from last year.

(I'm on the left)

But, I think everyone could embrace a little more sparkle in their life. I mean, come on, have you ever met an unhappy person wearing sparkles? (We're talkin classy sparkles here.) So go for it! Add a little sparkle to your life!

Planning to rock this look en l'hiver (this winter)... maybe not to school.. Xmas party?

Why not travel with sparkle too? (Dying to find this for my new passport!)

And always remember...

New Things for Fall

As I become more and more comfortable in my own skin, I'm willing to take more risks for fashion. Okay, so my "risks" may be a little more demure than what others would consider "risky".... How bout: new looks I want to try for fall. Haha.

I'm going to try more buns (much easier to do in the morning *getting extra sleep* and it won't kill my hair as much as my usual straighten and curl routine)

Buy a bottle of this fabby nail polish. Theres just something so chic and sophisticated about a sleek, black nail

I've seen sooooo many cute sweatshirt and button down outfits recently! A couple on one of my favorite Tumblrs http://thesassyhoe.tumblr.com. Maybe some of those sweatshirts from my college trips will make it in this combo!

I can totally see this being my new go to look: soft loose tee, comfy black pants or leggings, and little suede booties. Simple yet fabulous.

My dream outfit. Right here. This probably won't be happening. But it's gorgeous. That's all.

Farewell Summer

(photo via inslee.net)

As Summer 2013 is coming to a close, it's time to get back on the working bandwagon, especially since I'm entering the pivotal Junior Year. I've already began SAT Prep and between that and the rest of my summer homework, my usual school year routine of having no life besides school, is starting early. Work, work, work is what the next month holds for me. Not the paying kind of work (god, I wish) but the kind that is "forwarding my scholarly career" (or "erudite" career, to use an SAT vocab word). This next year will be full of testing, AP homework, and college trips. I'm most excited for the latter. Traveling is one of my favorite things in life, "travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer"! And although it's not a trip to France (my dream), it's still traveling to new places, places where I could be spending four years of my life before I venture out into "the real world". Well I guess college is technically "the real world" cause I'll be on my own and probably working... I don't know, anyway I'm excited and nervous. It's a big decision and I don't want to mess it up. What I'm most worried about is that I won't get into any good colleges, or I won't have the means to pay for any good colleges. If I end up at the university 15 minutes away, it won't be the end of the world because it's an amazing school and I'd get a great education, but I would be able to rely on my parents which, I worry, would hold me back from developing my own independence.
It's a lot to think about, and a lot to work on. The good thing is, I have time and it'll be my focus for the whole year. Long story short: here's to a year of stress! Yay! I just hope I can stay calm, cool, and collected, and look like this girl all year long!

Take me away....

Days like these I dream of sneaking off somewhere beautiful and serene...

A Grecian Getaway by the sea

A stroll through Paris in the rain

Lounging by the pool in Spain

Or even just laying under the stars...

Healeo

I go through phases where I become obsessed with new ways of creating a healthy lifestyle. Though I continue to add all the new trends in health foods and fitness fads to my life, I ultimately end up eating a donut or two scoops of ice cream at some point and give in to my tremendous sweet tooth.

Though I have yet to find a healthy remedy to my ridiculous sugar cravings, I have discovered a new health food bar! Right over the bridge in Downtown Seattle. I coaxed my friend Madison to come try it out with me just to experiment when we had nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon. And it was a success!!

Healeo is a superfood bar located in Downtown Seattle. It's a thriving health store but also has yummy superfood treats. I don't know too much about superfoods but I know that there are some that are quite delicious (and they're all of course filled with all the fabulous things you need to keep your body healthy and happy). I tried the Twitter-famed Acai Bowl with strawberries and cocoa nibs. It's essentially acai yogurt with a crunchy cereal granola and a couple different superfoods. That, along with a mango smoothie and I was set (and quite full by the end)! Madison tried their soft serve which was deemed better than Yogurtland and a detox drink that.... well, wasn't what she was expecting haha but if you're a juicer, it's most definitely for you!

Delicious Acai Bowl with strawberries and cocoa nibs

Go try Healeo!!

Summer in LA

Summer is on its way and I can't wait! Two more weeks and we're free! Though it also comes with work and SAT Prep, there's still room for at least a little fun in there.

Our family's starting it off right with a quick trip down to LA for a week on the beach.

Here's a guide to some LA hotspots (and the outfits to wear with them of course!) that I'm aiming to enjoy on this trip down!

Worried about your exercise routine while on vacation? No problem! Thanks to the luminous, ever-present sunshine, you can enjoy your workout in the great out doors on the famed Runyon Canyon Trail (if the goal of your trip is to spot a celeb-this is where you should be hangin out).

I'm a museum buff and one of my favorite museums is the Getty Villa in Malibu!

It's so beautiful, with all the outdoor fountains and gardens... it's really a magical place

To fulfill your shopping needs, run over to one of the two famous Fred Segals!

Not only can you find a fabulous wardrobe, but an utterly delicious lunch as well!

And, if you're looking for a good beach (which of course you are, you're in California!), one of my favorites is Manhattan Beach

This pier, and the little town of Manhattan Beach right up the hill, are both so cute and really fun places to walk around after you do a little tanning and body surfing.

Enjoy!

"I'm 15 years for a moment..."

... and it really was a moment. My, what can change in a year. Miserable and lonely, to happily integrated. One Year.

My eighth grade birthday was one of my favorites. Being the abstract teenager I am... I was fourteen and decided I wanted to go to Katsuya in Hollywood with one friend for sushi. Yeah, I know. This year was the big 1-6, but, I wasn't looking to have a drunken rager. Again, the abstract teenager bit I was talking about. Instead of said rager, I decided to take my boyfriend and three friends (along with my parents, grandma, and brothers) out to dinner at a beautifully classic french restaurant just over the bridge in Ballard, called Bastille.

I'd like to think I channeled my inner Holly Golightly in my simple black dress and pearls (a family heirloom gifted by my lovely grandmother), hopefully better than Heidi Montag in her belly shirt and tutu.

La Heidi Montag

Moi et mon Copain

I am also very proud to announce that I officially passed my drivers test and am now a licensed driver!

Bastille is an amazing little french place so if you're a foodie or a francophile and you're ever in Ballard, I highly recommend it! The mussels were delicious- but so is everything else :)

Thanks to Justin, Madison, Claire, Will, and my family for making my sixteenth birthday special!
